About the Department

        The department of English has been running under graduate classes since 1973 and the post graduate course since 1985 respectively. Earlier it was in the Old Tehri town which submerged due to the construction of the Tehri Dam. This department was shifted along with other departments of the Campus to Badshahi Thaul in the year 1998. The aims and objectives of the department are to equip the students with the better skill  of English language , written and spoken, so that they may have better job opportunities in not only in the field of teaching ,but also in the  multi media sector as well. Besides this the focal point of the research activities is to expand the knowledge of literature both creative and critical among the students with reference to the recent critical theories. Thus a good number of students enroll here in under graduate and post graduate levels. The minimum criteria for the admission of regular course are 40% marks in the qualifying examination.
